About Cosmos
Cosmos, also known by its botanical name Cosmos bipinnatus, is a delightful flowering plant that lights up gardens with its vibrant blooms. Native to Mexico, these annual flowers have delicate, feathery foliage and come in a spectrum of colors, including pink, white, and deep crimson. Cosmos thrive in well-drained soil and sunny locations, making them a favorite among gardeners for their ease of care and prolific blooming throughout the summer and into the fall.
These flowers not only add aesthetic value to gardens but also attract pollinators like bees, butterflies, and beneficial insects, supporting a healthy ecosystem. Additionally, cosmos plants are relatively drought-tolerant, making them a resilient choice for various climates. Historically, they have been associated with love and peace, often used in floral arrangements and bouquets. With their cheerful and carefree appearance, cosmos flowers bring a sense of joy and tranquility to any landscape.
Flowers have spoken to me more than I can tell in written words. They are the hieroglyphics of angels, loved by all men for the beauty of the character, though few can decipher even fragments of their meaning.
Lydia M. Child (1802–1880)
